At the discovery of Chioggia
Chioggia, built on four islands, is situated in the southern part of the Venice Lagoon, near Brenta river delta. Its history, art, landscape and art of cooking make it become an evocative and unique place where you can relax. It’s interesting to discover its origins, urban structure and medieval history. Documents and tales, churches and buildings, monuments let you “dive” into a charming even if faraway time. It’s possible, after an introductive lesson, to visit the city: Corso del Popolo, S.Andrew Tower with a clock of 1836, churches and buildings, the Civic Museum and the Diocesan Museum of sacred art. The Christ of S. Domenico (of the fishermen), the Virgin Mary of Navicella, the votive “tolele”, the capitals on the streets witness Chioggia noteworthy religious worship. You can admire Chioggia even by the sea, on board of a traditional “bragozzo”.
Walking on the lagoon
Walking around Chioggia you will realize to be immerged in a rich landscape of colours and light. Along the banks and the bridges, through the streets and above all the “Lungo Laguna” you can admire a rich landscape of sights and charming corners. We suggest you to visit Pellestrina island, at only a quarter of an hour by motor vessel.
Sottomarina beach, 10 kilometres long, 300 meters depth in some stretches, is characterized and admired for the quality of its very subtle sand, rich of moderate and stable “augite”, which makes it particularly suggested for “eliopsammoterapiche” therapies and for an amazing suntan. The huge and comfortable strand is ideal for long walks, for kids having fun and for adults relaxing. The seaboard is also the paradise for divers for “Le Tegnue”, an area of many fish species life.
